Do you need a personal parasite control plan?

Our focus on effective parasite control for your horse and your dog might lead you to question… Is there a need for parasite control for yourself? It certainly isn’t a common topic but one that should be considered for your overall health and wellbeing.

You might wonder how you could possibly contract parasites. You likely don’t live in a region where the risk of parasitic infection is high because of contaminated drinking water or poor sanitation management. But the reality is that without a control plan infestation is a possibility and unlike your dog or your horse; parasite treatment in humans is typically not considered a norm in personal health care.

Symptoms you might experience if you have a parasite imbalance could range from minor health concerns from
  • nausea
  • lack of appetite
  • diarrhea
  • abdominal pain
  • weight loss
  • general weakness

These symptoms could present more intense during certain moon cycles based on the activity of the parasite itself. What is even more shocking is that symptoms can become more severe if the infestation is not treated! According to the CDC “Parasitic infections affect millions around the world causing seizures, blindness, infertility, heart failure, and even death,” said CDC Director Tom Frieden, M.D., M.P.H. “They’re more common in the US than people realize and yet there is so much we don’t know about them.”

There are options for fecal tests and blood work diagnostics for people, but I imagine it isn’t something your health care professional has discussed with you prior.
But even if you don’t suspect a parasitic infestation or imbalance, or you don’t wish to seek treatment. You can begin to implement an effective control plan into your lifestyle.
Parasite control does include lifestyle, by implementing the following tips you can reduce the chance of initial parasitic worm contraction.

  • Clean up pet waste as soon as possible.
  • Remove your shoes in your home, as you’ve likely walked on contaminated surfaces and when tracked throughout your home can increase the risk of initial contact.
  • Avoid or limit your consumption of raw or undercooked meat, poultry, and fish
  • During food and meal preparation avoid cross-contamination with uncooked meat, poultry, or fish.
  • Disinfect all cutting boards, utensils, and countertops that touched raw meat.

As we’ve discussed in relation to your horse and your dog, parasites aren’t something to fear. But their presence can serve as a communication of an external environment imbalance or an internal environment imbalance.

Incorporating a consistent parasite control plan for yourself that implements alongside the one you do for your horse or your dog can be a great way to improve the health and vitality of you both!

Eating foods that are naturally anti-parasitic like pumpkin seeds, garlic, and honey is one easy and effective way to utilize a personal parasite control plan. Also taking in to consideration that many processed foods and foods that contain high sugar content promote an internal environment in which parasites can thrive.

During Full Moon cycles you can also utilize herbal options to amplify the cleansing efforts of your personal parasite control plan. Products such as Mimosa Pudica Seed or herbal cleanse options likeZuPoo can keep the digestive system clear and promote an internal environment in which parasites don’t thrive.
